Before Covid, I was able to welcome clients into my home for a session of Reiki Healing. Regrettably, that has all changed now, understandably, we are all to stay safe, not just for ourselves, but for our family, friends, work colleagues and everyone else we meet as we try to get on with life.


The power of the mind and healing when set with good intention is something we can continue to do, it's nothing new. Many healers work with this method, myself included.

Healing Benefits of Reiki

For all


First and foremost, Reiki is a healing system that can be used for everyone, family, friends, pets, places, events, panic attacks, world healing and more. However, it helps to be open to receiving Reiki energies for the healing to work. It is also a system welcomed by all religious doctrines. Reiki is an energy of intention so is free from all religious ties.


There are many benefits to receiving Reiki that will help reset your coping mechanism, as well as encourage you to perhaps adopt this healing system for yourself. The advantages of receiving Reiki supports and promotes our life daily in many ways. Reiki is recommended if you are wanting to make improvements to many aspects of your life, such as:


  • Improve your mind and well-being

  • Encourage relaxation techniques

  • Bring balance to your mind, body and soul

  • Increase mental clarity to focus better

  • Emotional healing and stability

  • Spiritual growth and development

  • Improved circulation

  • Promote a calm and peaceful sense of wellbeing on many levels

  • Reduce tension or anxiety, including panic attacks

  • Strengthen the immune system

  • Helps relief from chronic pain

  • Helps to promote life changes

What Should I do Before a Reiki Healing Session?

Prepare yourself


Usually, the practitioner will work with you to make sure you are comfortable enough to enjoy the whole experience of Reiki Healing. However, here are a few tips I would always recommend to my own clients:

  1. It is recommended that you do not consume food at least two hours before receiving healing. To do so would be to disrupt the energies the healer is giving you.

  2. Do not wear tight fitting clothes as you will not relax or feel comfortable.

  3. Remove as much jewellery as you can as the heat from the energies may cause burn marks.

  4. Whilst not necessary, removing footwear would be recommended.

  5. Remove spectacles and place somewhere safe.

  6. Clothes should not be removed unless of course you're wearing an overcoat!

  7. Close your eyes gently and trust the experience will be empowering.

  8. Relax and enjoy the experience.


What to Expect From a Reiki Session?

Once you are comfortable whilst sitting on a chair or on the therapy bed you should begin to relax. It is important to relax your shoulders as this area mostly controls the rest of the lower body from tension.


The practitioner will start at the top of your head by laying hands around the crown chakra. It is normal for hands to touch your body as the practitioner moves to work around your body. However, the touching of private parts is not permitted in any terms or practice. Your dignity will always be intact so don't worry! You may feel slight tingling on some areas that are being worked on. This is normal as it's the problematic energies being removed.


Don't be surprised if you drift off to sleep:) this is normal too. And, whilst lovely relaxing music may be playing the back ground, it is normal for the practitioner to hear a few of your zzzz's too! this is good as it means the jobs being done well:)


Once the session is complete the practitioner will give your shoulder a little nudge for you to open your eyes and sit up nice and gently. A glass of water will be provided for you to sip on.

You may feel a little light-headed but this is normal too - it will wear off before you leave.


Absent/Distant Healing

The healing never stops! not even Covid could keep myself and healers from sending out healing to those in need. Nothing stops the mindset of intention, nor the flow of energy.


Everyone has the ability to set an intention for sending out healing. You just have to quieten your mind, visualise, or think of conditions that people are suffering with, think of people in need, places, situations, events, animals, countries, tragic events, mother earth that may have been destroyed through war or natural destruction through acts of 'God.' The list is never ending. All that matters is that you intention was good when you set it. Let the power of your thoughts be received with an abundance of gratitude and love you sent the energies out with.
