GSR (German Shepherd Rescue) Elite (UK)

Updated: Sep 20, 2023

Thanks to many of my kind facebook followers attending a fundraising event to support this charity, we were also able to help the efforts of Nowzad in Afghanistan.

About the German Shepherd Rescue Elite

Fundraising efforts by volunteers is immense, and we have already attended many shows and events not only raising much needed funds, but promoting the rescue and its aims. We strive to ensure that dogs in our care are microchipped, vaccinated and neutered before being re-homed. This is not always possible when a dog goes straight from one home to another but then our follow up team step in to ensure these basic needs have been met by the new owner.

Our volunteers are our biggest asset and without their dedication, commitment and support, GSRE would not be able to help as many dogs as it does. Every volunteer’s input makes a difference to a dog out there one way or another.

More recently GSRE have also been helping the Belgian Shepherd Malinois (Mali’s) and Dutch Shepherd Herders (Herders) breeds who have started finding themselves in rescue, and as the other main working breeds used by the police and armed forces, we feel we are better placed than many rescues to understand their needs. Sadly their popularity grew with their introduction to the public on the big screen, but the Mali and Herder are not breeds to be a typical family pet.

GSRE also works alongside other reputable rescues and charities as so much more can be achieved if we work together for the same goals. To assist in this we are now a Full Member of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) who promote best practice in animal welfare, and a member of the EU Dog and Cat Alliance who call for EU action to build a better Europe for dogs and cats.

We are a proactive charity with a common goal; the welfare of animals.
